Everything is connected

In his studio, among his canvases and sculptures, A-Sun Wu looks back on half a century of painting: a country childhood in Yilan, Madrid, New York, Tokyo, then Africa and the islands of the South Pacific, where he found his language — red, black and white, and a line that never stops.

For him, red is life force, white is peace, black is power. His line, made of straight strokes and curves, brings yang and yin together: he calls it the ‘yin-yang pattern’. For, as he says, ‘in the East, nothing is more beautiful than the harmony of yin and yang’.
