Before Alixe Fu's work “A Table Face”, art is not only something looked at on a wall: it is a way of living, day to day. We take our seats at the very heart of the work to share the many expressions of Taiwanese tea brought by Wistaria.
The table is smoked glass, the chairs are painted, and faces look on from every side. Six people sit down, no more: the tea host serves each guest, explains what is in the cup, and leaves time to taste.

The three teas
- IWelcome tea
Cold-brewed Ruby 18
From the TTES No. 18 cultivar — a cross between a wild Taiwanese tea tree and an Assam variety — this tea is a great classic of Sun Moon Lake. After 24 hours of cold brewing it gives soft notes of cinnamon, mint and tropical fruit. Its liquor, clear as a ruby, gives it its name.

- II
Alishan high-mountain oolong
Grown at high altitude in Alishan, among mist and cool air. This lightly fermented oolong has leaves rolled into half-spheres. Its clear golden liquor gives delicate floral notes and a gentle milky nuance, smooth, pure and balanced on the palate.

- III
Oriental Beauty
Harvested in summer, this highly oxidised oolong comes from young shoots bitten by the green leafhopper. The plant's natural defence, brought out by exceptional craft, gives the liquor intense notes of flowers, honey and ripe fruit. A smooth, rich tea of remarkable length.

Served with: pineapple cake.

Wistaria tea house
From a Japanese residence of the colonial period to a living monument of Taipei, Wistaria tea house (Zitenglu), with its century-old architecture, bears witness to several decades of change in democracy, the arts and tea culture in Taiwanese society. In the 1980s it was a springboard for marginal and emerging artists. Steeped in history and the scent of tea, it remains a spiritual refuge for the people of Taipei.
In 2021 its sister house opened on the Left Bank in Paris. It carries the same mission forward through tea and art, building a cultural bridge between Taipei and Paris, and between Asia and Europe.
