Alixe Fu does not restore: he intervenes. Old canvases, damaged and forgotten, become the support for a graft. The gesture of repair turns into a gesture of creation — and the ancient portrait suddenly looks back at our own era.
The concept he calls "Anti-Retro" refuses nostalgia. It is not about going back, but about forcing two timescales to cohabit on a single surface.
